- Shave with a non-moisturizing strip (e.g: BILLIE razors) and exfoliate at least 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. Use an exfoliating mitt, and a natural gel body wash. Stay away from any body wash that is oil or cream based ("moisturizing"). Do not use any oil based sugar scrubs, such as Tree Hut. If you do, this will leave an invisible film on your skin, causing a streaky tan.
- Moisturize as much as possible leading up to your appointment, this will help hydrate your skin and prevent cracking. Make sure there is no mineral oil or extreme fragrance in the lotion being used. My favorite is Hempz or Native.
-If you are sunburnt it is HIGHLY advised you not schedule an appointment.
- If you are getting a wax, facial, or pedicure/manicure done before you tan, make sure it is complete at least 24-48 hours prior to your tan appointment. This will ensure the oils and products used have time to wash off of your skin.
- Come to your appointment with your skin free of all products. This includes; jewelry, lotion, deodorant, make-up, oils, and perfumes. Wear loose dark clothing and open toed shoes to your appointment. No tight fitting, closed toed shoes or clothes to the appointment!!
- If you do not rinse at your recommended time, your tan may develop too light or too dark, and can become patchy (mainly for clients who receive the RAPID tan).
- Do not use soap during your first rinse, if possible. Keep all of your showers short and use lukewarm water. If you have streaks after getting out of the shower from your first rinse, get back in and gently remove the rest of the cosmetic bronzer. Rinse until the water runs COMPLETELY clear. Initial color wash off is what you want, do not panic. After all of your showers pat dry, do not rub.
- Do not get sweaty or come in contact with water while your tan is developing. This means no showering, swimming, working out or use of any hygiene products until your first initial rinse.
- If you have pets, don't let them drool on or lick you while your tan is still developing.
- If the forecast calls for rain, bring an umbrella to your appointment for the walk back to your vehicle after your service.
- The solution is water soluble, so it will rinse out of clothes and sheets, but remember your tan is transferable until you rinse, so do not touch your body. This could result in stained palms. If you are sleeping in your tan while it is developing wear long sweats and a baggy t-shirt so there is no skin to skin contact, along with wearing fuzzy socks on your hands.
- Do not wear dangly earrings, necklaces or bracelets while your tan is still developing.
- Avoid using loofahs or washcloths during showers. It is best to wash with your hands, only in the areas needed to ensure a long lasting tan.
- Always stay away from Dove products, and any harsh ingredients that will fade your tan quicker. Natural products are the best such as Hempz, Dr. Bronners, or Native.
- Shaving can strip the tan, so minimal pressure is advised.
- Always pat dry, never rub.
- Avoid; swimming or soaking for long periods of time in chlorine or salt water, hot showers, saunas, and excessive sweating. Your tan will fade quicker if you plan on doing any of these activities frequently.
- Taking short lukewarm showers and moisturizing daily with natural lotion will help the longevity of your tan.
- Stay away from lotions that have mineral oil and high amounts of fragrance such as Sol De Janeiro and Bath & Body Works. Ingredients that they have in them will pull your tan right off.
- Finally, stay hydrated for a natural healthy 𝐺𝐿𝑂𝑊.
